Mr. James L. May, 82, of Augusta passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia following an extended illness.
Mr. May was born November 6, 1938, in New Ellenton, SC to the late Robert (Bob) Lewis May and Estelle Muns May. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike May. Mr. May loved all of his family but he loved his grandkids the most. He enjoyed John Wayne westerns, fishing, and was an avid nascar fan. He was a member of the CB Club and his handle was Tally Ho. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Verna May of Augusta; daughter, Terry Richards (David) of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Jamie Boatright (Adam), Katy Hood (Shannon); great grandchildren, Kylie Floyd (Jason), Lexi Cutler (Zach), Lauran Bedgood, Alyssa Lyles, Olivia Boatright, Madison Hood, Peyton Hood; great-great grandchildren, Landrey Cutler, Emree Kate Floyd, Taylor Floyd; very special niece and family, Kimberly Avilez Ibarra (Max), Blake Judd, Erica Avilez, Heaven Ibarra, Mindy Hogan, Layla Judd, Alyssa Judd and Kayden Spires; several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021, at his family cemetery with Pastor L.T. Logue officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be David Richards, Adam Boatright, Shannon Hood, Zach Cutler, Max Ibarra, and Jon Stubbs.
