Jason Shepard

Jason Shepard, age 48 of Dothan passed away at Southeast Health on Thursday, November 4, 2021 surrounded by his family. 

A funeral service for Mr. Shepard will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Covenant United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. until service time.  Reverend Jonathan Shepard, Chaplain Joey Hudspeth and Chaplin John Gormley will officiate.  Burial will follow at High Falls Assembly of God Church Cemetery in Hartford. 

Jason was born August 20, 1973 to Reverend Johnny Wayne Shepard and Gloria Jane Vickers Shepard of Hartford.  At the age of 15, Jason felt the calling to Funeral Service and began working at Peebles Curry and Durden Funeral Home in Swainsboro. After graduating Swainsboro High School he attended Gupton Jones where he obtained his Funeral Director and Embalmers license.  Jason currently owned and operated Family First Funeral Care and House of  Flowers.

Jason loved to fish, hunt and watch Alabama Football.  He loved spending time with his family and fur babies, Daisy, Milo and Itty Bitty and animals in general.  He was a master griller.  He also enjoyed music and played the drums with several gospel groups. He loved people and was a friend to all. 

Jason is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Auborn Joseph and Pauline Shepard, Maternal Grandfather Sam Franklin Vickers, Jr.  

Jason is survived by his wife, Amy Sellers Shepard; daughter Jaycie Shepard Cox (John Mark); son Jon Paul Shepard, daughter Baileigh Martin, son Peyton Martin; parents Johnny and Jane Shepard; grandmother Edna Vickers; brother Jamey Shepard (Tonia), Jonathan Shepard (Nicole); nephews Jamey Shepard, John David Shepard, Jaxson “Kru” Shepard, niece Johanna Shepard; several aunts, uncles and cousins; special friend and business partner Roy Watford.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the humane society or to Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
