John Henry Carswell

Mr. John Henry Carswell, 61, of Seattle, WA passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Swedish First Hill Medical Center in Seattle, WA.

John was born April 22, 1963, in Twin City to the late Eddie Carswell and Julia Mae Hughes Carswell.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed Willie Carswell and Joseph Carswell; sister, Rosie Carswell. He was a graduate of Emanuel County Schools.  After graduating from high school, he served in the Army.  John attended the following colleges:  Seattle Central Community College where he obtained an associate degree, University of Washington enrollment in pre-medical courses, and North Seattle Community College where he focused on Information Technology courses.  John volunteered as a tutor at Seattle Central Community College.  He tutored many subjects including Science subjects, Pre-calculus, Calculus, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.  He enjoyed communicating with family and friends and working on computers.

John is survived by a friend, Lydia Lam; his brothers, Jimmy Carswell of Atlanta, Dock (Angela) Carswell of Swainsboro; sisters, Betty King of Twin City, Mary ((Michael) Oglesby of Canoochee, Brenda Mack of Millen, Annie (London) Hill, Tarra Carswell and Julia Carswell all of Swainsboro; aunt, Annie Kate Wadley of Swainsboro; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Michael Oglesby presiding.

Interment will follow at Glenville Veterans Cemetery.

Pallbearers are nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
