Johnny Fred Allen

Mr. Johnny Fred Allen, 75, of Swainsboro passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Emanuel Medical Center.

Johnny Fred was born December 20, 1947 in Swainsboro, Ga.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Penton Allen Sr. and Lucille Martin Odom; brother, Jimmy Ray Wasden; step-father, Ward Odom. 

Mr. Allen was known as “Fred” to his closest friends.  He loved to fish the river and camp with his friends and family.  He Served in Germany during the Vietnam War.  He was an Army Veteran.  Mr. Johnny Fred adored his grands and great grands.  He owned his own business called Johnny Fred’s.  He was a man of few words but his facial expressions could not hide his feelings.  Mr. Johnny Fred spent 28 years paralyzed and was cared for greatly by his wife and soulmate, Cherry. 

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cherry Curl Allen of Swainsboro; son, Brian Allen (Mel) of Pooler; daughters, Stephanie Tillman (Mike) of Pooler, Brandi Hood (Randy), Misty McKenzie (Nick Beasley) both of Swainsboro; brother, Penton Allen of Swainsboro; sister, Ann Wilkes (Larry) of Piedmont, AL.; grandchildren, Allen Tillman (Kaitlyn), Mikayla Tillman, Macy Messex (Drew), Austin Tillman, Mason McKenzie, Joeley Hood, Erin Hood, Riley McKenzie, Reagan McKenzie, Beckett Allen, Raycen McKenzie, Barrett Allen; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Kennison and Rev Tim Price officiating.

Interment will follow in Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 28, 2023, at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Mike Newsome, Billy Mac Trull, Josh Alford, Raymond Alford, Wayne Curl, Phillip Curl, and Mike Hobbs.

Honorary Pallbearers are Grady Coleman, Charles Henry, Steve Riner, George Carter, Dan Lamb, Billy Trull Sr.
