Mr. Jonas Hardee “J.H.” Meeks, Jr., 64, of Kite passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at his residence following a brief illness.
Mr. Meeks was born April 23, 1956 in Swainsboro to the late Jonas Hardee Meeks, Sr. and Lizzie Jane Flanders Meeks. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robbie Meeks. Mr. Meeks enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of Kite Church of God and attended Kite Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Evalena S. Meeks of Kite; daughters, Maria Meeks, Christy Meeks and Joni Meeks all of Kite; sons, Andy Tant (Brandi) and Billy Tant (Sonya) both of Kite; brother, Allen Meeks (Donna) of Kite; sisters, Elaine Bridges (Wayne) of Glenwood, Ruth Williams (Paul) of Kite, Betty Schoen of Swainsboro, JaneAnn Walters (Gary) of Kite and Janice Mathias of Wrightsville; 10 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Graveside Service will be Thursday, September 17, 2020 4 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverends Allen Meeks and Ervin Stapleton officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Zach Walters, Joey Schoen, Chase Howell, Nathan Meeks, Ricky Henry and James Stapleton
In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during visitation and service.
