Ms. Josephine Cowart, 84, of Wadley passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Comfort Creek Nursing and Rehab following an extended illness.
Ms. Cowart was born December 1, 1935 to the late Joe Black and Alice Faircloth Black. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, Cephus Cowart; son, Larry Cowart. Ms. Cowart was a hairdresser for 34 years and the first city council woman in Wadley. She loved going to Karaoke and doing sudoku puzzles. Ms. Cowart had a special love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed people. Ms. Cowart was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Mike (Sandy) Cowart, Gary (Rita) Cowart, Joel (Brenda) Cowart, all of Wadley; sister, Betty (Jack) Rigdon of Canoochee; grandchildren, Michael Cowart, Ashley Cowart, DeWayne Cowart, Josh Cowart, Richie Cowart, Melissa Cowart Brown; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces nephews and many friends.
Graveside Service will be Wednesday, August 5, 2020 10:00 a.m. at St. Johns Community Memorial Gardens with Reverends Pat Holbert and Bob Holbert officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Johns Community Memorial Garden C/O Ann Ware 1130 St. Johns Church Road Wadley, GA 30477.
In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during visitation and service.
