Kathy Edleigha Carpenter, 27, was called to Heaven by her Heavenly Father on Friday, July 15, 2022. She was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.

Kathy was born January 15, 1995, in Stockbridge, GA. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Tiffany Broughan, Claire Broughan, and her grandfather, Bill Hurst.

Kathy was a 2013 Honor Graduate of Johnson County High School. While in high school, she was a member of FFA, 4-H, BETA Club, FBLA, was on the yearbook staff, and held many offices in each. Kathy’s passion in school was showing hogs and participating in 4-H and FFA events. She began showing hogs with 4-H in the 3rd grade and in 6th grade switched to FFA. She was a fierce competitor in the hog showring but made many life-long friends through the events. Kathy won many trophies, belt buckles, and ribbons with her show pigs. She was a two-time Master 4-H’er. She graduated from East Georgia State College and earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern – Armstrong Campus, along with two minor degrees. She was also a sister of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority.

Following graduation, Kathy was employed by CABi as a retail manager. She returned home to Kite in 2019 and was employed by the Georgia Department of Human Services of Child Support Services in Swainsboro. In December 2021, she was named Admissions Coordinator at Southeastern Technical College. Kathy was an active and dedicated member of New Home Baptist Church.

Kathy loved to travel and was always ready for an adventure. She was a light in everyone’s life. She loved bargain shopping, especially estate sales, with her mom. She loved to shop for clothes, particularly on the Fashion Ten app. She loved animals – especially her chickens, her cats, Sparky and Toots, and her dog, Mack-Mack.
