Lintorn Brett Obituary

Lintorn Gordon Brett, lovingly known as Big L, closed his eyes on this earth and opened his eyes to Jesus on June 18, 2020.

He graduated from Wadley High School in 1957.  He attended the FFA National Convention in 1959, receiving the American Farmers Degree. He attended business school in Augusta, GA. He served in the National Guard from 1956-1962.

He married the love of his life, Willoise Wilson, in which he affectionately referred to as his “bride” on October 3, 1959. His sister, Helen, brought this Florida gator home from Georgia Baptist Nursing School. Their home grew with three children Murray (Paula) Brett, John (Cindy) Brett, and Linda Lee (Robert) Jenkins.  Big L fondly adored his grandchildren Nathan (Simone) Brett, Bethany (Luke) Booker, Benjamin (Raven) Brett, Brett (Laura)Jenkins, Ethan Brett, Clarke (Ashley) Jenkins, Jordan Brett, Jessica Brett, Noah Jenkins, and Grace Ann Jenkins.  His love continued to spread to his great grandchildren Emma, Larson, Noah, Brilee, Aaron, Theo, Winslow, Caleb, Briggs, and Sawyer.

Big L’s siblings were an active part of his life, Helen Schmid, Bobby (Betty) Brett, Henry (Jan) Brett, Gayle Farrar, and William (Sandy) Brett.

Big L shared with his children and grandchildren breathtaking beauty in the United States.  Some of the sights included the North Georgia mountains, Hilton Head, Alaska, the Grand Canyon, California, Hawaii, Yellowstone, and the Christmas lights with hot chocolate at Calloway Gardens. HIs generosity will be etched in the memory of his children and grandchildren for years to come.

Big L was known as the John Deere man for years, starting in the mid 1980’s.  His grandchildren will pass along toy tractors and accessories their grandfather provided for them. He served on the Butler Ag Council.  He had a passion for serving farmers.

When Big L turned 60 years old he picked up the hobby of golf.  He enjoyed golf with the Old Timers and made many new friends on the golf course.

Big L was an active member of the Wadley Baptist Church.  VBS was certainly a highlight.  His most recent gathering was the Ollie Carter Memorial Peanut Boil.  It was no coincidence that Mr. Ollie’s grandson, Dr. Robert Carter, cared for our father with great compassion while he was in the hospital the last few weeks. Throughout the years he served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and Gideon.  He called the members of the church, his family.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, LA and Gertrude Brett and his baby sister, Ann.

Big L’s casket is draped with his quilt given to him by his grandmother, Veva Brett.

He was known as a big man and those who knew him, knew his heart was even bigger.

Written with all my love,

Daddy’s girl
