Mary Chapman Obituary

Ms. Mary W. Chapman, 69, of East Dublin passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah following an extended illness.

 

Ms. Chapman was born June 2, 1951 in Dublin to Earl Warnock and Lillie Frost Warnock. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Warnock; husband, Donnie Chapman; niece, Lori Turner. Ms. Chapman graduated from East Laurens High School in 1969. Following high school, she attended Marsh Draughton Business College in Atlanta where she obtained an Associate’s Degree in Business. After college, she married her sweetheart, Donnie Chapman, in 1972. They were married for 23 years prior to his passing in 1996. Over the years she has worked little jobs, always serving others. Her primary jobs were with Morris State Bank for over 18 years and retired from Laurens County Clerk of Court following over 25 years of service. Ms. Chapman was an avid churchgoer. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Swainsboro for 56 years and attended Calvary Grace Baptist Church. She loved playing the piano and did so for many, many years at Southside Baptist Church. Her hobbies include playing the piano, traveling to the mountains, going to church, and, most of all, spending time with family, making memories.

 

Whether you knew her as Mary, Ms. Mary, Daughter, Sis, Mavis, Shug, Aunt May, and most of all, Mama, she was a very special lady, loved by many and enjoyed her life, striving to show God’s love to others in everything se did. Thank you, Lord, for allowing her to be part of all of our lives. We miss and love you more – until we meet again!

 

Survivors include her father, Earl Warnock; daughter, Amy (D.J.) Clark of Rentz; sons, Donnie R. Chapman, II and Kevin (Angela) Chapman, both of East Dublin, Kelby Bryant of Dublin; sister, Evelyn (Robert) Henry of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Dillon Chapman, Rikki-Lynn Jones, Gary-Keith Jones, Lillie Chapman, Blake Hemingway; special niece, Nickie (Cory) Enlow of Twin City, several special nieces, nephews and many friends. 

 

Graveside Service will be Saturday, June 13, 2020 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church with Reverend Brian Patrick officiating.

 

The family will receive friends Friday, June 12, 2020 at Chapman Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

 

In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during viewing and service.
