Mrs. Maxie Ann Roberson Lane, 86, of Garfield, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023, at AU Medical Center in Augusta, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Maxie was born August 2,1937 to Ebb Roberson and Melba Sutton Roberson in Twin City. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eva Blackburn, Bettye Steele; brothers, Paul Roberson, Van Roberson.
Mrs. Lane graduated from Emanuel County Institute in 1956. She worked at Twin City Manufacturing Company before leaving to become a homemaker to take care of her family. She was known for being a supportive wife to her husband while he worked long hours on the farm making sure he had plenty to drink and eat and running his errands. She enjoyed working in her flowers and fishing. Mrs. Maxie liked to watch football on Saturdays. She also enjoyed baking cakes and cooking. Mrs. Lane had a tremendous love for her grandchildren. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bobby Delano Lane of Garfield; sons, Jefferey Lane (Faye) of Garfield, Mark Lane (Sandy) of Twin City, Matthew Lane (Kelly) of Garfield; daughter, Beth Lane of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Heather Sapp (Randy), Mattie Grace Lane; great grandchildren, Hunter Lane, Mason Lane, Cayden Lane, Jaxon Sapp, Logan Sapp; sister-in-law, Ann Fordham (Jerry), Betty Lane; lifelong friend, June Ellen Clark; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 3:00 P.M., Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Reverend Ben Gay officiating. Mrs. Lane will lie in state 1 hour prior to service.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M, Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery
Pallbearers are Ricky Lane, Steve Lane, Justin Lane, Parker Lane, Jairus Lane, and Corey Lane.
