Mrs. Ora Mae Roberson, 92, of Cedar Park, TX died Thursday morning, October 13, 2011 following an extended illness.
Mrs. Roberson was a native of Emanuel County for many years before moving to Milledgeville where she worked as a ward clerk with the Georgia State Hospital for 20 years. After retiring Mrs. Roberson moved back to Swainsboro until 1994 then she moved to Houston TX to be with her family. Mrs. Roberson was a member of Mt. Shady Baptist Church, before moving to Texas where she moved her membership to New Hope Baptist Church in Cedar Park TX. Mrs. Roberson loved gardening, sewing, cooking, teaching sunday school class and just being with her family.
Mrs. Roberson was preceded in death by her parents, Remus Walter Rowland and Trudy Lowe Rowland, husband of 44 years, John Arthur Roberson; daughter, Mae Roberson Dent; brothers, Hubert Rowland and R.W. Rowland; and sister, Ruth Edenfield.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Alicia (Rick) Cole of Cedar Park TX and Mike (Cheryl) Dent of Katy TX; great grandchildren, Samantha and Nicholas Cole of Cedar Park TX and Amber and Jonathan Dent of Katy TX; sisters, Juanita Lott and Gertrude Thompson both of Swainsboro; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning October 18, with the Reverend Wilmer Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday October 17, 2011 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mike Rowland, Walter Rowland, Mike Dent, Rick Cole, Randy Thompson and Danny Rowland.
