Penny Morgan Obituary

Penny Morgan, 55, of Aline passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022, under the loving and watchful eye of Mary “Pup” Morgan and GHC Hospice.

Penny was born October 31, 1966, in Metter to Jessie R. “Sonny” Morgan, Jr. and “Pup” Morgan. She was preceded in death by her father. Penny loved watching football and baseball. Her favorite sports team was the Braves and during a trip to Atlanta to watch them play, the two teams got in a fight on the field and Penny jumped up and yelled, “Get you one, Claudell!” During her time at Metter High School, she was the Assistant Drum Major for the marching band and went with them to Washington D.C. to march in the 4th of July Parade and Philadelphia to march in the Freedom Parade. She loved spending time in her room and all her Michael Jackson posters. Penny once said that Michael Jackson and his kids lived in her room with her and if the family was making too much noise in the living room, she would come out and say that they were disturbing the kids’ sleep. She participated in the Special Olympics one year, placing 1st in the 100m Freestyle. She taught her nieces and nephews about “the birds and the bees”. Penny worked at Waffle House in Metter for 26+ years, where she loved her Waffle House family and loyal customers, especially Mr. Homer Bell. She was known to hate being late and even once left the house to walk to work because her dad was spraying the cows.

She is survived by her mom, Mary Frances “Pup” Morgan; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and James Anderson; brother and sister-in-law, Sonny and Barbie Morgan; best friend, Ginger Leverette; fur baby, Daisy; nieces, Kelci, Allie, and Agie Anderson, Blythe Morgan; nephews, Ben (Ariel) Anderson, Jess Morgan, Dawda Morgan Njie (Brittni Thoreson-Njie ); great-nieces, Macie and Makensley Anderson; great-nephew, William Rawlins Anderson; aunt, Jenny Sowell; uncle, Gale Cole; many cousins and friends.
