Mr. Rex W. Hanks, 48, of Swainsboro died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness.
Mr. Hanks was born in Memphis TN before moving to Georgia at the age of 15. Mr. Hanks was a carpenter by trade. He also served in the National Guard for many years. Mr. Hanks was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Patsy Hanks, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa W. Hanks of Swainsboro, step daughter Meagan (Hilario) Martinez of Swainsboro, brothers, Jimmy (Tab) Hanks, Jr. of Statesboro, Bart (Michelle) Hanks of Virginia Beach VA and Mickey Hanks of Michigan; sisters, Teresa (Ricky) Keelin of Statesboro and Virginia Hanks of Michigan; grandchildren, Jaden and Isabella Martinez of Swainsboro; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan and Harvey Stevens of Swainsboro; sister-in-law Vickie Davis of Swainsboro; beloved nephew, Jim (Amanda) Hanks of Statesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11 o’clock Wednesday, morning February 6, 2013 with Reverends Ann Braswell and Jason Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the Eastbrook Cemetery near Swainsboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jim Hanks, C.J. Davis, Hilarion Martinez and Ricky Keelin.
