Mr. Rondy “Chocolate Drops” Braswell, 75, of Vidalia, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Braswell was born to Billie Braswell Donaldson in Augusta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his mother; son, Jeffery Braswell; maternal grandparents, Ben and Ruby Braswell.
Rondy Braswell was a dearly loved son, husband, father, uncle, papa, and friend. He was born October 11, 1947, but he began his new life at the age of 16, when he surrendered himself to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. He came in April of 1964 to the Institute Church of God, where he met his wife Ann, saying that night to his friend that he had met a long, blonde-haired angel. They were married 56 years, and he came to be known as his wife’s dearly loved, “Chocolate Drops.” Rondy served in the Army in Vietnam and then worked as a professional meat cutter for 27 years, owning his own business. He ministered alongside his wife for 35 years, faithfully leading in the church and being know by all as a true servant like Jesus. He was known to stand in the alters fanning his wife as she ministered to the people. We’re now sure he’s fanning the angels above. He was a passionate follower of Christ, being a shining example of true servanthood, a steadfast intercessor, and one who was committed to the scriptures. We are confident on June 17, 2023, he heard from the One he loved, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Braswell of Vidalia; son, Ken Braswell of Vidalia; daughter, Gina (Mark) Groover of Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren, Lauren (Tracy) Morris, Shelby (Lexi) Braswell, Corey (Abby) Braswell, Chandler (Sarah) Groover, Sydney Braswell, Sophie Braswell, Ashton Groover, Ethan Groover, and Addison Groover; great grandchildren, Aason Braswell, Brecklynn Braswell, Alden Braswell, Axel Braswell, Addison Braswell, and Gabriel Groover; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
