Mrs. Susan Christine Johnson Brinson, 59, of Swainsboro passed away, Sunday, March 12, 2023, at her residence following an extended illness.
Susan was born March 14, 1963, in Swainsboro to Betty Blackburn Johnson and Kenneth Johnson. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Johnson and nephew, Jarad McNorrill. Susan lived her childhood and adolescent years in Millen where she attended Jenkins County schools and Buckhead Academy. She was a Christian of Baptist faith. Her love for children was evident in her work with Jenkins County Elementary School. She late worked with Ogeechee Behavioral Health. Susan had a great love for her family and friends. Her biggest delight was being “Gammy” to her granddaughter, Ellie and “Mama” to Arley and Tyler. Working in her yard and growing beautiful flowers brought her much joy. Susan was never without fresh flowers from her husband, Randall.
She is survived by her husband, Randall Ray of Swainsboro; mother, Betty Johnson of Millen; son, Tyler Brinson of Millen; daughter, Arley Piper of Savannah; granddaughter, Ellie Escobar; sisters, Carol Gay (Don) of Millen, Lisa Rich (Tim) of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Edwin Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
Pallbearers are Don Gay, Richard Gay, Lincoln Gay, Logan Gay, Landon Gay, Tim Rich and Frank Nasworthy.
