Mr. Terry Michael Gay, 65, of Swainsboro passed away Monday, March 7, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta following an extended illness.
Mr. Gay was born April 14, 1956, in Augusta to Thomas Etheld Gay and Edna Stephens Gay. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Francis Dekle Gay; brother, Ronald Gay. Mr. Gay owned Gay Service Station for many years with his brother. He then started his career at Terwilliger’s Tire Pro before transitioning into manager of the quick lube. He was a dedicated employee of Terwilliger’s for 30+ years. Mr. Gay enjoyed his many years of employment at Terwilliger’s, where he touched so many lives. If he wasn’t working, you could always find him working in the yard or cutting grass. Mr. Gay looked forward to his yearly fall mountain trips with his family to enjoy the leaves changing. He loved watching football and walking the greens at golf tournaments for hours. Mr. Gay lived for his family and the love of his sons. He was a great friend to many and a wonderful father.
Survivors include sons, Adam Gay (Chasity) of Swainsboro, Jonathan Gay (Kandace) of Claxton, Daniel Gay of Statesboro; grandchildren, Rexton Gay, Taylor Schuman, Tanner Schuman; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Reverend Jonathan Shepherd officiating.
Interment will follow in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Faircloth, Hal Wilson, Jr., Bill Simmons, Henry Terwilliger, Kip Farthing, and Dustin Lewis.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dess Smith, Wilder Smith, Jim Dekle, Larry Dekle, and the Employees of Terwilliger Auto Service.
The family will be gathering at 211 Racetrack Street, Swainsboro, Georgia 30401.
