Mr. Wadis Coleman, 77, of Swainsboro passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Emanuel County Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Coleman was born August 7, 1943 in Swainsboro, Georgia to the late Clarence Coleman and Lucille Williams Coleman. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tony Coleman; granddaughter, Brittany Coleman; brothers, Frank Coleman, Clarence Coleman, Reverend George Coleman, Paul Coleman and John Coleman, Sr. Mr. Coleman was educated by the public-school system of Emanuel County. He was employed by a family logging business as a young adult. From there, Mr. Coleman became a mechanic at Johnson and Neighbors Service Station for 10 years then transitioned to Terwilliger Tire and AG for 25 years. He also was employed by the Emanuel County Board of Education for 34 years, Southernland Laundry Drycleaners for 15 years, and self employed as a mechanic for 6 years. Mr. Coleman attended Coleman Temple Holiness Church and served as a faithful deacon for many years. He loved spending time with his family. Mr. Coleman also enjoyed fishing, playing golf, building, and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Gladys Coleman of Swainsboro; daughters, Gloria (Johnny) McGee of Garfield, Pamela (McKenzie) Newkirk of Metter; sons, Larry Coleman, Terry (Tressy) Andrews, Randy Coleman, and Charles Ford, all of Swainsboro; brother, Arthur (Shirley) Coleman of Swainsboro; sisters, Geraldine (Bobby) Allen, and Alice Foots, both of Swainsboro; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 1 pm Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the chapel of Chapman Funeral.
Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 4 pm to 7 pm Friday, December 4, 2020 at Chapman Funeral Home.
