Mrs. Wanda Willis, 64, of Swainsboro passed away Monday afternoon, August 17, 2015 at the Emanuel Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Willis was born November 4, 1950 in Macon to the late Marshall Taylor and Ruby Nell Kersey Darley. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. W. Newsome; brother, Mark Darley. Mrs. Willis was a life long resident of Emanuel County. She liked reading Stephen King books, listening to music, but mostly she loved playing with her grandchildren and drinking Coca Cola.
Survivors include her sons, Ronnie (Teresa) Newsome of Swainsboro and Chris Newsome of Swainsboro; daughter, Lynette Newsome (Randy Fields) of Swainsboro; brother, Danny (Betty) Darley of Meeks; sisters, Dorothy Gienger of Swainsboro and Kaye Taylor of Abilene, TX; grandchildren, Joey (Heather) Newsome of Savannah, Mandy (Lincoln) Kettles of Canoochee, Jennifer (Freddy) Torres of Savannah, Shane (Brandi) Smith of Adrian and Carrie Newsome of Lexsy; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015 with Rev. Jamie Archer officiating.
Interment will be in the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Kite.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Shane Smith, Joey Newsome, Lincoln Kettles, Freddy Torres, Kevin Patrick and Tripp Womack.
