Joyce Linda (Smith) Lumpkin

            Mrs. Joyce Smith Lumpkin, 69, of Adrian passed away Saturday night, August 26, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness.

            Mrs. Lumpkin was born February 8, 1948 in Charleston, SC. to the late David H. Smith and Ollie Mae Stafford. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Edna Mae Brown, Phyllis Ann Smith, and Vinnie Pearl Smith; brothers, Franklin Smith, JR. Smith, Edward Smith, and Charlie Smith. Mrs. Lumpkin worked several years at N.S.I. in Soperton, and worked at Emanuel County Hospital for years in Purchasing and Receiving, where she was employee of the year. Mrs. Lumpkin was a former Adrian City Council Woman, she loved Dirt Track Racing, planting and watching her flowers grow. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church.

            Survivors include her husband of 53 years, J.L. Lumpkin of Adrian; son, James L. Lumpkin (Paula) of St. George, South Carolina; daughter, Patricia Beck (Ricky) of Adrian; brother, Jimmy Smith (Martha) of Augusta; sister, Lillian Bishop (Lavon) of Augusta; grandchildren, James Keith Lumpkin, Allan Beck, Savannah Beck, and Steven Lumpkin; special grandchild, Anthony Lumpkin; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

            Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017 with Reverends Burt Flanders, Ricky Downs, and Jack Stafford officiating.

           Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

           The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home.

            Pallbearers are Jerry Hall, Ricky Downs, Greg Evans, Roger McKenzie, Jeff Downs, and Chris Wilkerson.
