Mr. Michael A. “Tony” Hicks,56, of Garfield passed away Monday afternoon, April 17, 2017, at Ogeechee Area Hospice following an extended illness.
Mr. Hicks was born in Swainsboro, Ga. October 28, 1960. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Fagler; grandparents, Baby & Johnnie Brown. Mr. Hicks was a 1978 graduate of ECI. He had retired from the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Dept. and was a lifetime farmer until he became disable. Mr. Hicks was a family man, he loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed grilling for fund raising events. He was a member of the Bulloch County Horseman’s Assoc. and of Popular Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Angela L. Hicks of Garfield; daughter, Johnna Hicks of Garfield; sons, J.C. Hicks and Josh Hicks both of Garfield; aunt, Bernice McCullough of Nunez; uncle, Bobby (Charlotta) Brown of Florida; cousins, Stevie Brown and Stanley Brown both of Portal; special friend, Boo Tarver; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 4p.m. Thursday afternoon, April 20, 2017 with Reverends Ben Gay, Bo Fordham, and Lamar Kersey officiating.
Interment will follow in the Williams Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, April 19, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Stanley Brown, Joe Brown, Matt Lamb, Willie Mincey, Hines Keen, Al Clark, and Brooks Brown.
